Stage 5: Our Lady’s Island to Rosslare and then ferry to Fishguard / Goodwick

ROSSLARE

If continuing to Wales:

The Stena Line ferry crosses to Wales twice a day at 7.30 am (arriving at 11am) and 6.15 pm (arriving at 21.45 pm). Details of the route, times and costs are at: https://www.stenaline.co.uk/routes/fishguard-rosslare.

If you are a foot passenger, enter the terminal building and check-in. From here you will be taken by bus to the ferry for your journey to Wales.

By Bus:

Bus Eireann provide a frequent bus service between Wexford bus station and the port. In Wexford bus station Bus Eireann operate many bus routes connecting Wexford to major towns and cities. See https://www.buseireann.ie/ for more information

By Train:

Iarnród Éireann operate the Dublin (Connolly) to Rosslare Europort railway line. There are up to 5 services each way daily.

Rosslare Europort train station is located within seven-minute walk from the terminal building, simply follow the designated signs!

GENERAL INFO FOR WELSH SECTION – TAXIS AND LUGGAGE TRANSFER

It is only 16 miles from Fishguard to St Davids and therefore you may find that taxi and luggage transfer businesses along the route might be able to help for all stages of the route.  Shown below are contact details for taxis and luggage transfers:

Please note that many of the taxi companies are fully committed with school transfers during term time which means they cannot always offer services around 9am and 3pm.

Luggage Transfers

VIP Wales offer a luggage transfer service along all sections of the route as well as covering the whole of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in case you wanted to carry on walking!  You can get more information from their website.
Some of the other taxi companies might also be able to assist with luggage transfers.

Stage 6: Goodwick to Melin Tregwynt

Public transport

Regular ferry crossing from Rosslare to Goodwick with Stena Line.

Rail services from across Britain into Fishguard & Goodwick operated by Transport for Wales.

Along the route, the best public transport offering is run by Pembrokeshire Council and called Fflecsi.  With this service you can request a stop anywhere within a certain zone and service is available from 07:30 to 18:30 from Monday to Saturday (no service on Sunday). Fflecsi Bus can be booked via their own app or by calling 0300 234 0300 and it is best booked in advance to avoid a long wait.

The Fflecsi bus pick up for this stage for Aber Mawr would be at nearby Melin Tregwynt.

By road

Goodwick is very well serviced with train and ferry services from Ireland. There is also plenty of parking available.

Private taxi services are recommended if the bus services are not available.

Very limited on road parking at Aber Mawr.

Stage 7: Melin Tregwynt to Abereiddy

Public transport

Pembrokeshire Council run the Fflecsi (https://www.fflecsi.wales/locations/pembrokeshire/) where you can request a stop anywhere within a certain zone and they will pick up from Aber Mawr or nearby Melin Tregwynt. Fflecsi Bus can be booked via their own app or by calling 0300 234 0300.

By road

Private taxi services are recommended if the bus services are not available.

Parking

Very little on road parking available at Abermawr.

At Abereiddy, there is a good size car park – charged for in summer months (man in hut, cash preferable).

Stage 8: Abereiddy to Whitesands

Public transport

Pembrokeshire Council run the Fflecsi (https://www.fflecsi.wales/locations/pembrokeshire/) where you can request a stop anywhere within a certain zone and they will pick up from Aber Mawr or nearby Melin Tregwynt. Fflecsi Bus can be booked via their own app or by calling 0300 234 0300

Once within St Davids Head region there is a far more frequent bus service (403 Celtic Coaster – https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/bus-routes-and-timetables/bus-routes-list-coastal-buses) which runs every 30 minutes during the summer season.

By road

Private taxi services are recommended if the bus services are not available.

Stage 9: St Davids

By road

WHITESANDS AND ST DAVIDS

Pembrokeshire Council run the Fflecsi (https://www.fflecsi.wales/locations/pembrokeshire/) where you can request a stop anywhere within the particular zone. Fflecsi Bus can be booked via their own app or by calling 0300 234 0300.

Whitesands and St Davids are serviced by the frequent 403 Celtic Coaster (https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/bus-routes-and-timetables/bus-routes-list-coastal-buses) which runs every 30 mins in the summer and every hour in the winter or the Flecsi service (https://www.fflecsi.wales/locations/pembrokeshire/).

Parking

There are car parks available at both Whitesands and St Davids.

GETTING TO / FROM ST DAVIDS

By Bus & Train: There is no train station in St Davids. The nearest ones are in Haverfordwest and Fishguard & Goodwick and you can see details of trains on The Train Line (https://www.thetrainline.com/).

There is a regular bus service (T11) which joins Fishguard to Haverfordwest (https://traws.cymru/)

By Car: Perhaps the easiest way to reach St Davids where there are a number of car parks. Cash is the easiest way to pay for parking here (coins only). You can pay by app but the network signal is not always reliable. More info: https://stdavids.gov.uk/community-information-2/car-parks/
